The Complexities of Inpatient Insulin Use

This class, taught by a certified diabetes educator, is designed for healthcare professionals and will discuss the complexities of inpatient insulin and glucose management in the hospital setting. This course is accredited for 4 CEU’s. FREE During this class, you will: • Examine current beliefs and practices • Review ADA/AACE guidelines, ABC’s of diabetes and discuss hospital-based research • Discuss insulin mimicking nature and compare and contrast the use, actions, administration and preparations of the different basal and bolus insulin • Describe methods of medication treatment and the special considerations for the hospitalized patient • Describe intensive insulin management and the role of the patient and nurse regarding insulin pump therapy in the hospital setting • Review case studies covering Type 1, Type 2, TPN or steroid use and hypoglycemia Sponsored by and CEU's provided through Scripps Whittier Diabetes Institute
